So
you want to be On Air?
Then you've come to the right place! WSYC (We Serve
Your Community) is Shippensburg University's student funded and run
radio station. In addition to playing music that you wouldn't hear
on other stations, we provide the students and community with sports
and news casts.
Do I have to be a
DJ?
Being a DJ is a lot of fun, but there are much more opportunities
here. You can be a sports broadcaster, board operator, or numerous
other positions. You can also be a news person, compiling and reading
the days headlines on air. Or, you could even have your own talk show.
Radio is a big place. In the past, we've had people read their poetry
on air. Anything is possible with WSYC!
Where are you guys
located?
The WSYC studio is located on the 3rd floor of the Ceddia Union Building
(CUB), the University's student building. We are next to The Slate,
the student newspaper, and SUTV the student TV station. You are welcome
to stop by any time the station is open to learn more about it!
What does being a
member entail?
All members are trained in board operating and in the adequate use
of equipment. In addition, you will be taught how to make promos for
your specialty shows should you chose to have one. If you decide to
be involved in news or sports, the respective directors will train
you in what you need to do.
Members should attend all general meetings and should
be active in participating in our events.
Alright! You have
me convinced. Where do I sign up?
Becoming involved with WSYC is easy. You can either attend a general
meeting, or simply email our human
resources director to schedule a time to be trained. And that's
it! Easy as cake, amirite?
